A Chinese woman was rushed to a hospital for treatment for a severe heart attack and a fever after eating noodles in China, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The woman, who was not identified, was taken to a local hospital in Beijing on Tuesday and was placed in intensive care for two days, according to Xinhua.
She was taken there on Sunday after suffering the “worst case of heart failure,” the agency said.
According to the agency, the woman was eating noodles made from bamboo and pine trees in a village in Guangdong province when she had a severe reaction.
Doctors were able to use a device to remove the noodles and put the woman into a medically induced coma, the agency added.
The incident comes amid rising concerns in China about a rise in the use of artificial and synthetic foods in the country.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has vowed to stop the consumption of processed foods and to ban their sale.
Last week, he banned the import of processed food, including food prepared with artificial ingredients.
