Smokers have had a long and storied relationship with Flat Iron, the popular flat-iron shop in Los Angeles that pioneered the trend for a black shirt with a black jacket on the front.
The popular Flat Iron logo has been worn by many celebrities including Rihanna, Madonna, Madonna’s boyfriend, and Jay Z. The iconic design, the most popular among women, is also the most expensive among men, at $80, according to Mintel, a global data analytics firm.
Now, as Flat Iron is shutting its doors, it is looking to bring back the iconic Smoked brisket logo, but this time in a more subtle way, according the company.
Flat Iron will be offering new Flat-Iron T-shirts featuring a “Smoke” shirt on the back.
It will be a shirt featuring a Flat-iron logo in the front with a Smoked jacket on its sleeve, the company said on its website.
“It’s not about one product but the whole Flat-In is one brand and we’ve been working hard to bring this to market,” CEO Kevin J. Lavin told the Financial Times.
The Flat Iron shirt will be sold in a variety of sizes, and is slated to hit stores on January 11.
“It’s a little more subtle, but still a Smokey bear,” he said.
Flat Iron was founded in 1948 by Jim O’Connor, the father of Joe O’Connors legendary fast-food chain.
The restaurant has been synonymous with a fast-casual food culture for decades, serving up burgers, fries, sandwiches and pizzas, and has been the subject of several documentary films and books.
The Flat Iron brand has been a major part of Hollywood and pop culture, with films like “The Fast and the Furious,” “Hotel Transylvania,” and “Jurassic Park” featuring its logo.
The company is also known for its signature Flat-in, which has become one of the most recognizable and recognizable logos in pop culture.
Its Flat-ins popularity has continued with recent films such as “The Muppets,” “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,” and its Flat-Ins have appeared on TV, on T-shirt designs, and in posters.
The brand has also received a slew of movie, television and commercial endorsements.
